Technical Information

BVCI products are designed in cooperation and consultation with our customers to ensure they meet the individual and industry needs.

All materials used in the manufacture of BVCI products are sourced from reliable and long standing suppliers who hold quality systems accreditation, but also manufacture under our own QMS requirements.

In addition to the drawings and specifications provided, we provide the following general information:

  • All concrete used in BVCI pre-cast concrete products have a minimum compressive strength exceeding 40MPa at 28 days and are steel mesh and/or bar reinforced.
  • BVCI plastics product used in underground communications and electrical installations are designed and tested for load ratings - testing based on Telcordia specifications.
  • BVCI now manufacture a range of Class B load rated pre-cast concrete pit covers to meet the NBNCo specification.
  • BVCI mild steel galvanised cable pit access covers, are manufactured to a minimum Class B load rating to AS/NZ 3996 standard. These are generally available in non lock and locking alternatives as well as hinged options. Locking may be simple Allen Key style or full SCEC endorsed pad locking style.
  • Cast ductile iron cable pit Class B load rated access covers for the BVCI plastic cable pit range are available in standard ductile or galvanised ductile, all with lock adaptable option.
  • Cast ductile iron Telstra cable pit Class B load rated access cover range are standard ductile and available in lock adaptable option.
  • Cast ductile iron concrete in-fill access cover and frame products available in Class B and Class D load rated style as standard, and also higher load rated products to Class G rating are available to order.
  • BVCI offer special Secure Pit designed galvanized steel locking covers (padlock style) which are full SCEC endorsed for use in high security applications such as Defence. SCEC endorsed cover assemblies are Class C load rated but are also available in Class D load rating to order. BVCI are a major supplier of pre-cast concrete cable jointing pits and manholes with security SCEC endorsed cover assemblies to Defence facility projects and other security projects such as Airports, throughout Australia.
